Five things to consider when preparing for an office relocation!

No matter the size of your company, big or small, an office relocation is NO small task and there are a lot of logistics involved.

Here are some things to consider to minimise the stress and make the office relocation process easier and smoother for everyone.

1.Communication with all employees about the move.

Moving can be a stressful time for everyone. Avoid reducing office morale, by informing your co-workers/employees of the move as early as possible and explaining the purpose of the move. Keep everyone updated on the office removal progress at every stage. It is worth considering using multiple channels of communication for announcements to ensure everyone is well-briefed. Things can get chaotic very easily with poor communication.

In order to avoid confusion only one person should be in charge of the relocation and communication with the Removalist and to all employees. This way the messages will be consistent across the board.

2.Plan office relocation early.

It’s never too early to start planning. Planning early will take the pressure off yourself and others. Most business relocations are planned months in advance.

Giving your co-workers plenty of notice allows them to have adequate time to pack up their belongings and take home any personal possessions for safekeeping.

When you decide to hire our services, we encourage you to discuss your plans with us. We have more than 20 years of experience in the Removalist industry and can provide you with appropriate guidance should you require it. Should you also wish to move certain documents and/or items into storage, we can offer you short-term and/or long-term secure storage options.

3.Prepare the new office space.

Part of the removal process requires checks to be carried out at the new building.  Make sure anyone involved in the office relocation process is aware of any building access times and security requirements.

Find out whether or not there are restrictions on when the move can be completed. Some buildings may restrict moves during business hours. If there is a service lift make sure you have proper access to it.

Getting into a garage can often be a difficult task. Make sure you have the remote for the roller door. Calling a garage repairman for your new home or office is the last thing you want to be doing!

Before the relocation, you should ensure everything is in working order in the new office space as this prevents further delays to your business.

Creating a floor plan and drawing up where everything should be placed will make the unpacking process much easier. Copies should be distributed to the removalist and your co-workers.

4.Minimise disruptions during the relocation.

Running a business while moving an office can prove immensely difficult. You may want to move non-essential items first so as not to disrupt your operations.

Make sure your clients are aware of the office relocation, especially if phone lines or the internet may be down. We suggest also providing alternative emergency client contact.

When you hire our service, we can work with your schedule, including your IT company and other services. This guarantees a minimum level of disruption to your business.
